Business – sewing production
How to organize sewing production.Recently, many of our fellow citizens increasingly began to sew things to order. First, prices for ready-made clothes are increasing every day. Secondly, often clothes that ideally fit the figure can only be sewn to order. Therefore, the business in the field of clothing is very promising. Usually this business is done by people familiar from firsthand sewing industry, namely, designers of clothing, technologists or fashion designers. As an alternative, sewing companies successfully organize the wives of successful businessmen.
It is very important from the very beginning to determine the range of services provided. You can do at the same time tailoring, repair and restoration of any clothing. Also, the shop may have a narrow specialization, for example, in the manufacture of bed linen, or sports suits. For this purpose, it is necessary to study the current situation in the regional market and correctly evaluate the competitors.
The space for the sewing workshop should be at least 150 square meters in size, preferably with ready repair. The main functional requirement is 380V. This room does not necessarily have to be in a densely populated area with high traffic. Moreover, it may well be semi-basement. The ideal option seems to rent space in a garment factory.
Purchase of raw materials requires costs in the amount of 2-3 thousand dollars. A larger amount will have to spend on equipment. The most expensive are the installations for wet-heat treatment, cutting machines and special sewing machines. In addition, it is necessary to purchase shelving, mirrors, overlock, lighting, mannequins.
Enough troublesome moment is recruitment. To organize a business you need to find a creative designer and seamstress with experience.
As for sales, there are three options: shops, markets and its own retail network. The latter option requires a large additional investment. In stores you can take the goods only under the implementation, but at its price. But in the markets, retailers, for the most part, buy goods. However, they need to offer finished products at the lowest price.
To open a sewing workshop, with a productivity of 150–200 units of products per shift, it is necessary from 100 thousand dollars. But in practice, the main task at the initial stage is to get as many loyal customers as possible in order to produce and sell at least 40 products per day. Only in this case, you can recoup the investment in 1-2 years. In order to ensure the desired level of sales should use all marketing techniques: ads in newspapers, distribution of leaflets, a page on the city forum on the Internet.
